Apparatjik
Apparatjik? Sounds like… Apparatjik. Or maybe like Apparatjik. But then again, it sounds more like Apparatjik.
Apparatjik were a so-called superband, featuring members of Coldplay, a-ha and Mew plus a renowned producer. They teamed up in 2008 to record one song for the BBC2 program Amazon with Bruce Perry. Reactions were very positive which lead to a single and a whole album a year later.
Their music was often described as experimental pop or art pop. Their first album is certainly different, their second, which was released in February 2012, leans towards a more commercial pop sound, but it is still unmistakably Apparatjik with that angel voice of Jonas and the instrumentation done by Martin, Guy and Magne.
No new music has emerged since early 2012. They have promoted some artists up until April 2020, but there has been no activity under their name ever since.
